It is worth noting that 6 new specializations have been added to engineering programs at the University of Sétif 1, prominent in the fields of Science and Technology, Civil Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, as well as Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. It boasts a significant number of professors - researchers of various ranks who conduct research in 47 scientific laboratories in various specializations and fields, contributing to numerous specialized scientific journals. The University of Sétif 1 has published a total of 6,508 scientific articles in international journals. Additionally, it has registered 340 university training research projects (PRFU) that are currently in effect.
The university has a research unit dedicated to emerging materials, including 14 research projects with economic and social impact. Scientific research is a top priority for the university, and it has made significant strides in this field. As a result, its researchers have obtained 16 patents in various areas, particularly in the fields of precision technologies, physics, chemistry, and others.
The University of Sétif-1 Ferhat Abbas supports and accompanies students with projects by encouraging innovation and fostering an entrepreneurial culture. Sétif City, also known as Setifis or Zdif, which means "black soil", is the capital of the highlands region, a city located in eastern Algeria, known for its strong dynamism as an economic, cultural, agricultural, and tourist hub. Sétif boasts major factories and commercial centers and is rich in cultural and historical heritage. It serves as a distinguished and well-known tourist destination, connecting the eastern and western parts of the country.
The city covers a significant area of 6,549.64 square kilometers and sits at 1,100 meters above sea level. It comprises 60 municipalities spread across 20 districts and is approximately 300 kilometers away from the country’s capital, Algiers.
Transportation
One of the most important sustainable transportation means in Sétif is the Tramway, which began operating on May 8, 2018. Tourist Attractions
A big shopping center located in the heart of Setif City, close to the Amusement Park, the Governorate Headquarters, the National Archaeological Museum, and the Citadel Gate. This complex comprises two towering buildings reaching a height of over 85 meters. It boasts a large shopping center with various retail stores spanning more than 41,000 square meters. Additionally, it features a world-class hotel belonging to the renowned Marriott chain, encompassing panoramic restaurants, a bowling alley, and a unique 400-square-meter ice skating rink. Furthermore, the mall encompasses office spaces covering an area of approximately 14,000 square meters and a conference hall with 1,000 seats.
Cuicul is situated in the northeastern region of Sétif and sits at an altitude of 900 meters above the sea level, covering an area of approximately 42 hectares. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, Cuicul traces its origins back to the era of the Roman Emperor Nerva, specifically in 96 and 97 AD.
Additionally, Cuicul houses a museum that exhibits a significant archaeological collection showcasing in particular an impressive mosaic collection of an estimated area of 900 square meters. These mosaics depict scenes of civilized life.
Ain El Fouara Fountain is regarded as one of the most significant historical landmarks of the city of Sétif in eastern Algeria. Carved out of white stone and marble, it was transported to Sétif in 1899 and placed in the heart of the city. Due to its fresh water source, the fountain attracts thousands of tourists daily.
Megres is a mountain located in the Municipality of Ain Abessa, belonging to the Tell Atlas range. It stands at an elevation of 1700 meters and encompasses pastoral areas and a water source. The mountain is often covered in snow at its higher altitudes, adding to its natural beauty and allure.
